The Beaches of Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach

The boroughs are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the East and the Manasquan River to the north and northwest. The ocean beaches are found in Point Pleasant Beach and the two beaches along the Manasquan River are maintained by the the borough of Point Pleasant. Just a few of the more common sense rules about the beaches - no glass containers, no pets, no alcohol and the lifeguards have the final say over what you can and cannot do: where you can and cannot swim, if you can do things like play football or frisbee (usually not!) and more. Some of the beaches do allow food, others do not. You can find a link to the rules of the beach at the end of each of the descriptions that follow (no link means there were no posted guidelines).

parking sign in town municipal parking lotBeach Parking - Ha! Good Luck! Well I am only half kidding. There are simply no easy choices for parking at the beach. There are metered spots, pay-to-park lots and away from the beach you can find free parking places. The parking game therefore becomes one of how much you are willing to pay to park close to the beach. Rates vary between two and two and a half dollars an hour in town metered spots. There are a few privately run lots taht charge varying prices. During a busy weekend in the summer you will have fewer options, as many parking places near the beach are filled. Sometimes you just have to get there early - even if you are willing to pay!

The Ocean Beaches - Borough of Point Pleasant Beach

The roughly two miles of the Atlantic coastline at Point Pleasant Beach is managed by a variety of agencies. Each beach area has its own arrangements and rules but they all have lifeguards in the summer and have a paid access beach-badge system. For some of the beaches there is a website about their services, rules, contact info, etc. If you want to know more please click on the links.
